Following a finding made in the Abuse in Care report, the president of the New Zealand Law Society is facing a formal complaint for advising a religious group to destroy children’s records.
The Royal Commission of Inquiry’s final report detailed how Gillian Bremner, the former chief executive of Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO), instructed the destruction of all records belonging to children in its care between 2017 and 2018. This decision was made on legal advice from Frazer Barton, now president of the New Zealand Law Society, and was deemed necessary by senior figures in the group, as the records were considered “too much of a risk.”
The Royal Commission’s report, made public on Wednesday, highlighted widespread abuse, with 200,000 people victimised in state and faith-based care. The destruction of records has sparked outrage and calls for justice. Sam Benton, a legal partner at Cooper Legal, has lodged a formal complaint against Barton, asserting that the records were deliberately destroyed to shield PSO from accountability. The law society has acknowledged the severity of the situation, and police are assessing the findings to determine necessary actions.

Many of those ill-treated children have died. Those records probably applied to the years from 1950 through to 1975. Contraception (the pill) was made available in New Zealand in about 1962 and then only to women who were married and had one child. Eventually the social and financial cost of babies being born out of wedlock and put out for adoption or into foster homes became unbearable and much against the strident complaints of the churches contraception became generally available later in the 1960s. I would like to know the cumulative number of infants basically thrown on the rubbish heap for that 25 years. I know it was well into into six figures when the total population of this country was under 2 million. Aristotle, 300 years before the birth of Christ, knew that a pregnancy could not begin without fertilisation from a male, yet the commonplace remark was ‘she went and got herself pregnant’. The male, the perpetrator of the misery, strutted as a man about town. The woman was punished and gave birth, but the infant, the only innocent being in the whole disgusting moral facade was punished for a lifetime. This so-called Bremner woman is not worthy of her sex or her profession.

And today on RNZ’s Freeview Channel 50, there was a quick flash of Luxon stating that if anyone was involved, abused or had knowledge of the ‘Pedo Ring of the 1980’s that involved Politicians and / or Civil Servants”,, then they should go to the police.

With World War Three going hot soon, I have no doubt that the PTB are trying to train-up another ‘Idiot Battalion’ that they can exploit in a theater of war, as they did in past wars!
It would be interesting to see the silence of Autism NZ and Mr. Dougan in NOT addressing this blatant violation of Civil and Human Rights being aimed and levied at those with Autism!
