Trump hails “New Dawn” as ceasefire frees hostages and prisoners

U.S. President Donald Trump received a hero’s welcome in Jerusalem as he told cheering Israeli lawmakers that “the long and painful nightmare is finally over” after brokering a landmark ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

In the first address by a US president to the Knesset since 2008, Trump hailed the end of the war as “the moment everything began to change” in the Middle East, echoing the language he used when mediating Arab-Israeli normalization deals during his first presidency.

The ceasefire coincided with the release of the final 20 living Israeli hostages from Gaza, alongside 250 Palestinian prisoners and more than 1,700 Gaza detainees held by Israel.

The exchange marked the first phase of Trump’s 20-point peace plan, which aims to bring an end to the two-year Gaza conflict that began after the 7 October 2023 Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel. During his Knesset address, Trump described the deal as “the most challenging breakthrough maybe ever,” adding that his next priority would be ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu introduced Trump as “the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House” and thanked him for his “unremitting help” in securing the hostages’ return. Trump, joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, and adviser Jared Kushner, was met with chants of “Trump, Trump, Trump” from lawmakers wearing red caps reading “Trump the Peace President.”

While celebrations swept through Jerusalem, hundreds of freed Palestinians were welcomed home with tears and jubilation in Gaza and the West Bank.

Families gathered outside hospitals and Red Cross buses to embrace their relatives—many of whom appeared pale, frail, and weak after years in Israeli detention. “This is a very beautiful feeling—a day of joy,” Muhammad Hasan Saeed Dawood told British state media, waiting in Khan Younis for his son’s release. In Ramallah, volunteers from the Palestine Red Crescent treated released prisoners who had reportedly suffered beatings and starvation in custody, though these claims could not be independently verified.

For Palestinians, the moment was bittersweet—an emotional reunion tempered by grief for tens of thousands killed during Israel’s military campaign. “There is joy, and there is pain,” said Khalil Abdulrahman al-Qatrous as he waited for his son’s return.

Trump, meanwhile, flew on to Egypt to co-chair a peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, declaring that “a historic dawn of a new Middle East” was underway. Negotiations for the next phases of his peace plan are expected to begin immediately, with both sides under pressure to turn the fragile truce into a lasting settlement.

  2. What about the other 9,000 Palestinians being held in inhumane conditions, and are being raped, tortured, maimed and having medical care with-held by God’s Chosen People’ the latter of which is out-dated by 2,000 years???
Notice how the IRC and the U.S. State Department are silent on this, with only Amnesty International speaking out, and being placed on secret terrorist lists?
BTW…the little piano playing floppy penis of a J3wish President in the Ukraine has now changed the street signs from Ukrainian Cyrillic over to Hebrew.

Why does Netanyahu quote the Hebrew Bible?
Why do Jews call the first five Books of the Hebrew Bible the ‘Torah’?
As of October 2025, at least 68,123 Palestinians have been killed and 179,750 injured in Gaza and the West Bank since October 7, 2023.
These figures include both direct casualties from Israeli military actions and indirect deaths from starvation, lack of medical care, and infrastructure collapse.
