US President Donald Trump has suspended sanctions on Russian diesel after Russia’s President Vladimir Putin agreed to supply more than 300,000 tonnes of the fuel to US and world markets.

Another 500,000 tonnes will follow in November.

“Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

The deal was reportedly agreed to after Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ignored half a dozen requests from the US to stop striking oil refineries in Russia.

Zelenskyy called the sanction suspension a “gift” to Putin, while Trump said Ukraine should “get a new leader who can make a deal”.

  1. 300,000 tons of diesel covers only about 14–15 hours (roughly half a day) of U.S. consumption.
This is because the U.S. uses approximately 3.6–4 million barrels of diesel per day, and 300,000 metric tons converts to roughly 2.2–2.25 million barrels. Even if the fuel were delivered immediately, it would not significantly impact national prices or supply levels.
500,000 metric tons of diesel would last approximately one day in the United States.
    Nothing to see here
Trump up to his usual smoke and mirror antics leading into the mid terms

  2. Apparently the whole deal is supposed to be 300k + 500k + 1M + 3M = ~4.8 million tonnes total
The 300k and 500k are just the first two of four tranches
The full 4.8 million tonnes (~35.5 million barrels) ≈ ~10 days of US diesel consumption
The 300k + 500k first two tranches are just the first ~1.5 days of that

  3. Symbolic – Mr T is letting Ukraine know their leader is for the chop and they can finally stop killing off their men – and hanging with Vlad is telling the world Iran, Russia’s ally is history. Trump is a better politician then a politician.
