Trump vows more airstrikes in Strait of Hormuz deadlock

The American president earlier claimed that new attacks would be “twenty times harder” if Tehran stops the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s top security official has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s threats after he vowed to strike Iran “twenty times harder” if it continues to block the strategic Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for US-Israeli attacks.

Ali Larijani branded Trump’s threats “empty,” writing on Telegram: “Even those greater than you could not eliminate the Iranian nation. Be careful not to be eliminated!”

A new wave of US-Israeli strikes has killed at least 40 people in Tehran, with the overall civilian death toll in the conflict on the Iranian side exceeding 1,300.

At the same time, Trump did not rule out new talks with Tehran while reiterating his criticism of Mojtaba Khamenei, who was elected as the supreme leader following the killing of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has threatened to assassinate anyone who takes the post.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who held a phone call with Trump on Monday, said the escalating conflict risks entirely choking off the region’s oil exports through the now “de-facto closed” Strait of Hormuz.

  1. Air power can only soften up, keep the skys clear. It will take a full on Dday invasion with heavy armour.

Possible but expensive. Extremely unpopular when your offspring is killed.

    Brings back memories of Vietnam.

  2. A lot of the blame for this disasterous war can be put on Witkoff and Kushner, a Laurel and Hardy joke of a team that misled not only the Iranians but Trump also. Not to mention the fact that Kushner is the literal embodiment of Damien from the Omen movies.

    • Yeah, he is that stupid, right?

Kushner and Witkoff have shown that the US is not worth negotiating with. Iran will be fighting until they get peace on their terms.

Go on youtube and watch these four guests that were on Judging Freedom yesterday for some idea of what Trump and Netanyahu are now facing.

They were Scott Ritter, Jeffrey Sachs, Ray McGovern and Larry Johnson

    • This affects our own backyard because NZ is a member of 5 eyes and so the radars or data collection systems in NZ will no doubt be abused to prosecute the American genocide in Iran

  3. With the Strait of Hormuz still closed, and twenty percent (or so) of global daily oil supplies cut-off, Iran has made an offer to the world regarding shipment of oil.

“Any Arab or European country that expels the Israeli and American ambassadors from its territory will be granted full authorization and freedom of passage through the Strait of Hormuz starting tomorrow.”

So the world seems to have a choice: Continue being pawns of the United States and Israel, and thereby remain cut-off from the energy supplies you desperately need, or throw-out American and Israeli influence and get your energy back.

  4. Zaggaz, blame anyone but your own leaders..
If you ever leave nz and look around the world fuel is so over priced in nz..
Highest fuel taxes in the world for some of the worst roads.. but you like lining the govts pockets aye .. just blame trump.. We can’t afford to fix roads but can afford Maori road signs, rainbow crossing, cheese graters millions of road cones and traffic controllers but can’t afford to fix potholes and roads that have been closed from slips.. human crap pumping into your harbours is probably Trump’s fault as well.. closing Marsden point.. damn trump.. hey at least your jooish friends making bank, people are happy with this war.. women don’t have to hide there faces and ankles anymore

    • Oh no, I blame successive nz governments for the sorry state of our country too. They continually suck up to our so called allies, who should be told to f off.

This country is in a dire state thanks to years of the same from both sides of the house

    • Some truth to that but whats also true is the US has imposed its world view on many nations, including New Zealand. Its actions also resonate beyond the confines of its own shorelines, as we are seeing in Iran. If the US stayed home and looked after its own mess, this argument would be more compelling, to me at least.

  5. Oh dear Donny, looks like you are going to have to pay a fee, for using the shipping lane from now on, as is your smelly Israeli pet….how about we call it a “tariff” and up it, each time you piss Iran off…..That sounds fair to me. “Iran first”, after all.
