Trump warns Venezuelan jets could be shot down amid rising tensions

US President Donald Trump has warned that Venezuelan jets flying over American naval vessels could be shot down, following two reported incidents of Venezuelan aircraft approaching US ships near South America.

The warning comes days after a US strike on a Venezuelan boat alleged to be carrying drugs killed 11 people, an operation Venezuela denies.

President Nicolás Maduro rejected US allegations of drug trafficking and called for dialogue, insisting disputes should not lead to military conflict.

Trump, who has intensified anti-drug-trafficking operations since returning to office in January, said Venezuela would be in “trouble” if the situation escalated.

The US has deployed additional naval forces, marines, and 10 F-35 jets to the region, while Trump has doubled the reward for Maduro’s arrest to $50 million, accusing him of being a leading narco-trafficker.

  1. Real reason. Maduro is not a US lackey and has massive Venezuelan oil and natural gas reserves not in control of the US.

    President of peace!

    • Exactly. And let’s not forget that the US is the biggest drug market in the world, the CIA is the biggest drug dealer with billions of unaccounted black money available for deals of all sorts. And Trump has blood on his hands with operation ‘Warp speed’.

  2. Loads of oil in venezuala. And the US vulture would like very much to play the same scenario as in for ex. Irak.
Any pretext will be good enough.
Has been praying and stealing on other countries’ assets for at least more than a century. Hold habits die hard

  3. As with any country experiencing ” TENSION’ with America, they need to look out for their resources . Owning them is an offence in the eye uf an international bully and all of Latin America has long been in the US cross hairs .Drug trafficking, terrorism, inappropriate religion or even an alternative governance can require that the Duke rides over the horizon and imparts some specific US style democracy. The west has bad actors behind every good idea

  4. The US scumbags are after the oil, having had their sticky little fingers burnt in the Russia Ukraine conflict and then Iran (no oil or gas resources for you). I hope Russia and China come to Venezuela’s aid.

  5. This boat allegedly carrying 11 people (symbolic) in the middle of the ocean with outboard motors which was supposedly destroyed by US forces it has been mooted may in fact have been AI
