Despite facing strong opposition from Senate Democrats and concerns over her past foreign policy stances, former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard secured confirmation as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) under President Donald Trump.
Her confirmation, passing by a party-line vote of 52-46, marked Trump’s 14th Cabinet appointment.
Gabbard’s nomination initially faced hurdles in the Senate Intelligence Committee, with Republicans like Sens. Susan Collins and Todd Young needing persuasion from key allies, including Chairman Tom Cotton and Vice President JD Vance.
Opposition from Democratic Vice Chairman Mark Warner failed to sway the outcome, and Gabbard overcame scrutiny regarding her previous meetings with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and her stance on NSA surveillance programmes.
Trump, who announced her nomination in November, praised Gabbard’s leadership and bipartisan appeal, highlighting her shift from the Democratic Party and endorsement of his 2024 campaign.

Intelligentvand beautifull woman. And peace lover.
Ahh. The anti-war candidate. Unless it is supporting Israels wars, then she all in.
Is there a pattern here with Trump and his picks? Other than usually being democrat supporters
