U.S. House questions Hillary Clinton in Epstein probe

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared before the House Oversight Committee as part of its ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s connections and the institutional failures that allowed his crimes to continue for years.

During testimony Clinton told lawmakers she had no knowledge of Epstein’s activities, stating, “I do not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein. I never flew on his plane or visited his island homes or offices.”

While Clinton argued the committee was seeking to draw attention away from other political figures, committee members maintained the hearing formed part of a wider effort to establish a complete factual record surrounding Epstein’s network and influence.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said the inquiry was not an accusation of wrongdoing but a necessary examination of unanswered questions linked to Epstein’s relationships with powerful individuals and organisations.

“No one’s accusing, at this moment, the Clintons of any wrongdoing,” Comer said, adding that investigators were attempting to understand how Epstein cultivated connections across political, financial and charitable circles.

Lawmakers indicated they would examine Epstein’s previously stated involvement in fundraising connected to the Clinton Foundation, as well as historical associations involving Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. Committee members argue the hearings are aimed at restoring public confidence by ensuring all relevant witnesses are questioned under oath as Congress continues efforts to uncover how Epstein’s trafficking operation was able to operate for so long without effective intervention.
