Update – missing kayaker, Lake Rotorua

Missing kayaker news

Late last evening, Police, LandSAR teams, Coastguard, Navy and Police dive teams have completed a further full day of searching for a kayaker missing on Lake Rotorua.

Unfortunately there was no sign of the 18-year-old, who failed to return from a trip on Wednesday.

Search teams will continue today.

Police also want to speak with the occupants of any vessels that left Mokoia Island on Wednesday 10 August between 2pm and 5pm. If this is you, please contact Rotorua Police, either in person or via 105.

  1. Thanks for the update DT. As I said earlier, more specific information from the police would have helped locals to assist. There are many who could have gone out in boats looking if we at least had an area to look.

So sad for his family. ????
