The United States has ordered the deployment of around 2,000 troops from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division to positions within operational range of Iran, according to American officials cited in international reports.
The force is understood to include the division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team, part of the Immediate Response Force capable of rapid deployment for missions such as securing airfields, protecting embassies, and supporting evacuations. A further 2,500 Marines are expected to arrive in the region later this week, amid ongoing speculation about potential US objectives, including strategic infrastructure targets.
Tensions have escalated as Iranian officials issued warnings to US forces, highlighting their preparedness for asymmetrical warfare. At the same time, Washington is reportedly exploring diplomatic options, with President Donald Trump said to have outlined a series of proposals aimed at de-escalation. Reports suggest the framework would require Iran to scale back its nuclear and missile programmes and alter its regional posture in exchange for sanctions relief and civilian nuclear support.
However, Tehran has firmly denied that any negotiations are taking place, labelling them “fake news” and accusing the US administration of spreading misinformation to influence financial and oil markets. The denial comes as global oil prices have shown volatility, dropping sharply following the emergence of the claims.

Its about more than oil prices, its about trying to change the narrative of the US as the unequivocal aggressor. A pretense of trying to deescalate, all the while advancing its warmongering agenda. Hitler did the same thing in the early days leading up to WWII. But guess what low lives, no one with an IQ over 80 is buying that argument.
You can’t paint the victim of a crime as the perpetrator. You have forever soiled you already grubby reputation. I’ll add any politician anywhere it the world who supports you ,may well find themselves tarnished by association and that’s a good thing. We need to know who to support and who needs to be shown the door.
Claiming to have an agreement could be a psy-op on Trump’s part I suppose. The Iranian regime could be running about conducting a which hunt – i.e. “Which one of you arseholes has been talking on the sly to that arsehole Trump?”
Donald wants a ceasefire so he can position all his troops safely and launch a “surprise” attack during fake “negotiations”.
I’m sure the Iranians will fall for it, again.
Would the USA invade Iran with other anti-American enemies close by? The Americans would then need to fight on several fronts simultaneously if they put boots on the ground.
