US says Iran’s Strait of Hormuz threat ‘degraded’

The United States military says Iran’s ability to threaten the Strait of Hormuz has been “degraded” following a series of strikes on key missile infrastructure along its coastline.

The operation targeted a hardened underground facility used to store anti-ship cruise missiles, mobile launchers, and supporting equipment, as Washington deployed some of its heaviest ‘bunker-busting’ munitions.

Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), said multiple 5,000-pound bombs were used to penetrate the site, destroying not only the weapons storage facility but also intelligence support sites and missile radar relays used to monitor shipping movements. “Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in and around the Strait of Hormuz is degraded as a result, and we will not stop pursuing these targets,” he said.

About one-fifth of global oil supply passes through the stategic waterway. Brent crude has surged more than 50 percent in the past month, climbing above USD $105 a barrel amid fears of prolonged disruption.

Cooper said US forces have struck more than 8,000 military targets in the past three weeks, including 130 Iranian vessels, as part of a sustained campaign. The bombs used in the latest strikes, while powerful, are smaller than the 30,000-pound munitions deployed against Iranian nuclear facilities last year.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has criticised NATO allies as “cowards” for failing to secure the Strait, while signalling Washington may soon begin “winding down” its military operations as objectives are approached.

  4. Trump is royally ****ed now. Not only are new Epstein docs showing he is a sick pedo, there is no off ramp from this insane war unless it’s on Iran’s terms. All this talk of degrading and obliteration is pure propaganda to set a narrative where Trump can declare “victory”. But the “victory” is going to look increasingly stupid as Iran continues after the victory declaration to smash Israel and control Hormuz.

  5. Yes yes you’re winning, all the while bemoaning the fact no one else will help you with your “overwhelming victory”…..
