Verrall sacks Rob Campbell

Rob Campbell news

Health Minister Ayesha Verrall has sacked Health NZ Chairperson Rob Campbell.

Campbell was fired following a post he made on LinkedIn in which he criticised the National Party’s Three Waters Policy. The post was said to breach the Public Service Commission’s Code of Conduct on political neutrality.

Campbell claimed the comments were made in a private capacity, but Health Minister Ayesha Verrall decided otherwise and stripped him of his chairperson role over concerns he could not be politically neutral.

Campbell’s comments attracted criticism from both major parties, with National Party leader Christopher Luxon saying they were ‘appalling’, while Prime Minister Chris Hipkins said they were ‘inappropriate’.

An announcement on Campbell’s replacement will be made shortly. Former Hutt Valley DHB Member Richard Stein told RNZ the new chair needed to be someone with a health background and who understood the complexities of the NZ health system. He said said there was a disconnect between leadership and health staff, who hadn’t see any change or vision, or an increase in staffing levels over several months.

    • Quite so.
Everyone noticed the profusion of powerful Asians in OECD Public Health over the Plandemic. I sure did.

  1. “or an increase in staffing levels over several months.”

That is because they have extremely unrealistic requirements for new staff that wish to migrate from overseas. They need to speak Maori and to give care to Maori over NZ European et al first and foremost. For a foreigner that is hard for them to A learn another language and B compromise their ethical code.

They also have suffered from a lot of staff leaving because of Covid mandates.

Hidious to think Rob Campbell thinks he may put his opinion across as he pleases from an elevated platform such as this. Good riddance!

  2. Sad to see such a great intellect – probably better than most of the Cabinet – sacked. All the best,Rob!

  3. Campbell said: “Christopher Luxon might be able to rescue his party from stupidity on climate change but rescuing this from a well he has dug himself might be harder.”

Whenever I see this sort of thing I question the intellectual competence of the speaker. When leading authorities such as Professor John Christy (Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science and Director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama) and Prof Richard Lindzen (Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) tell us the climate modelers got it wrong and that the majority of their colleagues agree with them:

……I am inclined to judge those whose opinions are informed by the “everybody knows” trope as ill-informed and incompetent. It is small wonder to me that our Health system is broken if indeed this fellow is “basically in charge of the entire health system.”

  4. Huh, so an evil fascist nutcase has sacked another evil fascist nutcase.

On balance it might be a slight Net Gain, depending on the next fascist appointee obviously.

  5. “Three Waters” is far from, well, dead in the water. You can still find roles advertised for the rollout of it in its current form. I suspect it will be steamrolled through, regardless of whoever the next government is and what they say they think about it.
