Australian Test cricket captain has resigned just weeks out from the first Ashes Test in Brisbane admidst a sexting scandal.
Thitry-six year old Paine, a married father of two, was investigated over the incident back in 2018 after a female complained to Cricket Australia that he had sent her lewd texts. One text allegedly contained a picture of his penis in which he followed it up with another one asking her ‘to finish me off right now.’
In another text he is alleged to have said, ‘Will you want to taste my ****?? **** me, I’m seriously hard.’ The remaining texts are too explicit to publish.
A subsequent investigation by Cricket Australia cleared Paine, but he resigned today when it became known that the texts were going to be released to the public.
Although he has resigned the captaincy, Paine still hopes to play in the Ashes, which starts on 8 December.
