Wellington Girls’ College has directed about 900 students in years 9 to 11 to stay home after a student with measles attended classes and a prize-giving ceremony at the Michael Fowler Centre.

Principal Julia Davidson said she sought and followed Health New Zealand’s advice before the event, which was deemed safe at the time due to high community immunisation rates.

The school has since moved classes online and cancelled upcoming trips and events, despite the Ministry of Education advising against such action.

Health NZ confirmed it only provides guidance and maintains that vaccinated students may attend school. There are currently 17 confirmed measles cases in New Zealand across Northland, Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, and Nelson. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon urged parents to ensure children are immunised.

  1. 17 cases. Everyone stay at home. Tut tut any little scoundrel that dared to turn up with anything remotely resembling an “infection” ……. Have we seen this before people?

  2. Here we go again. Privileges, if you are vaccinated. No privileges, if you are not.

Even when the vaccines didn’t make a difference. Didn’t stop you from catching disease. And the vaccine companies paid out, billions in compensation for harm.

The public has lost faith in all of our politicians.

  3. Fear and Loathing in Las Wellington.
The global case fatality ratio is influenced by factors such as malnutrition, access to healthcare, and the presence of complications like pneumonia or encephalitis. Some years ago it was advised to get Measles ‘done-and-over’ with by getting kids together via a ‘measles party’. We all had measles and I never heard of the 0.1% deaths, usually occurring in severely compromised individuals.
The question needs to be asked: why should people compromise their proper immune system with vaxxines, in order to slightly enhance survival of a few compromised?

    • You got to be retarded to do a job like it’s prescribed by even bigger retards.
Remember, nowadays kids do not learn for their life but to be tools.

  4. “Luxon urged parents to ensure children are immunised’.
Did he now. I certainly hope HE and ALL MP’s are fully “immunised” and up to date with all available safe and effective vaccines out there in the marketplace. After all we can’t have them having sick days while they are busy saving us and the country with democracy now, can we.
