The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed down fines and suspensions to both Senegal and Morocco following chaotic scenes during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat, where Senegal defeated hosts Morocco 1–0 in extra time.
The match was disrupted late in regulation after a disputed penalty for Morocco sparked protests from Senegal’s players and coach, who briefly led his team off the pitch, with further tension involving supporters, players, and officials.
CAF imposed multiple-match bans on coaches and players from both sides and levied substantial fines on the two football federations for misconduct ranging from unsporting behaviour to crowd-related incidents, reaffirming its stance on discipline and safety at Africa’s premier international tournament.
