New Zealand First has confirmed that any decision on whether the country will sign and ratify the World Health Organization’s proposed Pandemic Treaty will undergo a full “National Interest Test”.
Foreign Minister Winston Peters took to social media to emphasise New Zealand’s position on safeguarding its sovereignty in public health matters.
“Decisions about how New Zealand responds to any health emergency are made in Wellington, not Geneva, and we are determined to preserve our sovereign decision-making ability,” Peters said in a post on X.
He stressed that any treaty must affirm the right of individual countries to manage health crises independently, without interference from global bodies.
“Any Treaty needs to confirm the sovereignty of countries to address public health matters within their borders and gives no power to the WHO or any other international body to direct, order, or change national laws or policies, or to direct countries to take specific actions, such as ban or accept travellers, impose vaccination mandates, or implement lockdowns,” Peters said.
He added, “For these reasons, any future decision on whether or not to sign and ratify the Pandemic Treaty will be informed by a full National Interest Test.”
The announcement signals growing scrutiny of the WHO’s proposed agreement. Critics have raised concerns about national autonomy and the potential for outside influence from Big Pharma and private donors of WHO on domestic policy.

I don’t know what full national interest means in terms of who decides. However, if Winston played that card, that ultimatum directly to the public it means if ACT or National do not agree with Peters. Peters can either force the issue and or dissolve government.
Given the frankness and the way in which it was not kept behind closed doors, I suspect it is a fallout with Luxon and Seymour followed up with a blind side from Peters.

Planed-demics are issued with zero notice. There will be zero time to hold a referendum. Getting it sorted in our timeframe is at the highest importance in our nations’ history.

I know someone in govt and have heard a rumour, I’ll call it that without clear confirmation, that yes NZF are not delighted with their coalition partners. As for no time for referendum, sorry mate, that’s a bullshit argument. Nothing has as yet been signed so if there was another scamdemic tomorrow, the treaty would not apply. There has been and there is plenty of time for a referendum, the fact they are trying this ersatz alternative on, means they know a referendum wont pass. If NZF were so committed they would be calling for a referendum, this is a distraction, while they usher it in.
As far as I’m concerned, it has no meaning if they do or don’t pass the thing, the minute they do they are NOT my government anymore. I too wont be complying with anyone trying to inject my family with anything. If they push the issue, well lets just say, I’ll “push back”.
NZ should follow the lead of he USA and get out of the WHO entirely, whose bureaucrats are utter parasites.

Mandatory measures are authorised by statute
Any action specified in this plan in relation to individuals, businesses or other entities that includes the possibility of compulsory measures being taken must be authorised by statute. The action is otherwise likely to be unlawful and, in particular, might be contrary to the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990.
Mandated measures may include:
• requirements for people to be tested, screened or vaccinated (may include arrivals to New Zealand)
• quarantining or isolating people (ie, supporting those potentially exposed and those with the disease in a quarantine or treatment/isolation facility (or at home) or prohibiting them from leaving a particular facility/home)
• restricting the movement of people into or out of an area
• restricting travel (within or out of New Zealand)
• imposing a duty to supply information for risk assessment or contact tracing (eg, future travel plans or past travel history)
• requirements for people to undergo preventive treatment
• requirements for people not to go to work or other public places or to do so only under certain conditions
• commandeering of resources (eg, land, buildings or vehicles).
Where response measures involve mandated actions, particularly those that restrict basic freedom of movement and association, a system needs to be developed with clear criteria and processes to allow for exemptions to be sought and issued in a timely and transparent manner.

I think he’s basically hinted that our National Interests are premised on retaining sovereign decision making which is fair enough. And a decent shot across the bow against mandates etc. At least he’s not saying we’ll just sign up to the damn thing. Start a petition if you want a referendum on whether we should sign up and if so, what the scope should be. I think the steeple would just say to agree, so Winnies saving us all from the danger people.

Winston is only interested in the next election next year 2026. He is positioning himself as the most effective representer of people who want freedom by pushing for this National Interest Test. This test itself might be irrelevant and unworkable or reversed by future govts but who cares? Winston just wants our votes in 2026.
This is an important election for him because Winston needs to change history. History shows since 1996 that Winston repeatedly fails at the next election just after he’s been in govt. That’s why he needs 2026 to be very different than the past 30 years.
Maybe it’s time Winston retired and let someone who actually cares about NZ take up the mantle (unfortunately it’s politics so wont happen).

Either way I won’t be following any ‘health’ directives from the W.H.O or NZ Government. The covid scamdemic showed us that both institutions are at best entirely inept.
When these people tell us another pandemic is coming, they are orchestrating it. They are crooks. They took trillions from covid and caused economic and fiscal decline of New Zealand, and some of its people were destroyed by it, even died.
Winston signed the coalition agreement with the Nats, which in it, has it signing up to the Gene Technology bill, which… has in it… get a copy if you don’t believe me, forced injections, refusal incurs fines of a minimum of $100,000 for individuals up to $1million for businesses who refuse to go along with it, and 5 years jail for anyone deemed to be spreading mis or dis information re mRNA technology…and of course the bit about no one can be held liable because it will be done with good intention… think on that one…this bill seems to have a gag order on that part of it… I have a copy of the bill, and the coalition agreement so Peters, you better do something about this… the bill was introduced last December, just before the holidays, and public submisisons ended in Feb 17th.. anyone care to say they knew or know about this part of this bill? Wake up NZ, as whatever Winston says he is going to do about the WHO pales in comparison to what this government is about to put into law… tell everyone please…what a National Interest query will do when the bill is already passed… nadda… and Winston knows this…
