You don’t even have to like them

voting station in auckland

With the election just a few weeks away, there’s something I want to talk about.

by Claire Deeks

I’ve heard from people who have decided they won’t be voting this year. Others are still trying to work out who, if anyone, deserves their vote.

And I understand why.

After everything we’ve experienced over the past six years, it’s hardly surprising that so many New Zealanders have lost faith in politicians and the political system.

When Alia, Libby and I started Voices for Freedom back in 2020, we were three mums who were deeply concerned about what was happening to our country and what it meant for our families. We had no idea what lay ahead. We certainly didn’t expect to find ourselves doing what we’re doing today!

But we knew that staying quiet wasn’t an option. And so did the thousands of New Zealanders who joined us. Together, we’ve challenged government decisions, asked difficult questions, supported one another, built communities and created our own independent media platform.

We’ve had our fair share of disappointments along the way. But we’ve also seen what can happen when enough ordinary people refuse to give up.In fact, we’ve just had another reminder of that.

This week, New Zealand was one of only two countries to abstain from a United Nations vote on a declaration concerning pandemic preparedness. Foreign Minister Winston Peters made the decision, citing concerns about protecting New Zealand’s sovereignty and our ability to make our own decisions about public health.

And the reaction has been quite something! Former Prime Minister Helen Clark called it “humiliating”. Chris Hipkins described it as an embarrassment.

Well, I see something rather different.

For years, people like us have been raising concerns about the WHO, international health agreements and the importance of keeping decisions about New Zealand in New Zealand.

And here we have a political party taking a position on the international stage that reflects some of those concerns, despite considerable pressure to fall into line.

That matters. And I think we should recognise it.

You don’t have to agree with everything Winston Peters says or does to appreciate this particular decision. You don’t even have to like the man!

We should still question him, challenge him and hold him accountable, just as we should every other politician. But this is a timely reminder that political pressure, public scrutiny and persistent voices can make a difference.

And that brings me back to the election.

I know many of you feel there is no party that truly represents your views.I share plenty of those frustrations. But I worry about good people becoming so disillusioned that they decide there’s simply no point in participating.

Because the decisions made in Parliament will affect us whether we vote or not. They will affect our families, our businesses, our freedoms and the opportunities our children have in the years ahead. And as we’ve learned the hard way, the people making those decisions matter.

We don’t have to find a perfect political party to recognise that some outcomes may be better than others.

Nor does voting mean giving anyone a free pass. Whoever forms the next government, our job remains the same. We keep asking questions. We keep speaking up. We keep holding them to account. That’s what Voices for Freedom has always been about.

So, if you’re thinking about sitting this election out, I’d encourage you to give it some more thought. Look carefully at the options. Consider what matters most to you, what each party has actually done, and what the possible election outcomes might mean for New Zealand.

And please, take the time to understand how MMP works. Your party vote and electorate vote do different jobs, and the way our electoral system operates can produce some surprising results. We’ve put together some resources to help explain all of this, and I hope you’ll find them useful.

Whatever you decide on election day, I hope you make that decision from a position of knowledge and conviction, rather than frustration or resignation.

Six years ago, we decided that our voices mattered enough to stand up and use them.

I still believe that today. And I hope you do too.

  1. Party politics is the problem, not the solution.
Direct Democracy with the voters deciding the issues via regular referendums is a viable alternative.
The party political system is a fake democracy which produces the results you have already seen and experienced time, after time, after time – and it’s not going to change unless the system is changed.

  2. Former Prime Minister Helen Clark called it “humiliating”. Chris Hipkins ,

I have utter disgust for those clowns. Neither took the vaccine even though he pretended to on the media propaganda machine.
I will be voting with my two votes for Winston.

    • What, the same Winnie who was deputy prime-minister when the COn-of-the-century-VID scam was unleashed. That Winnie?
Oh my! How some people forget to remember.

  3. Hardly matters. In truth, any NZ government populated by treacherous globalists, will fall in line. Its not as if they said “no” to the so called pandemic measures, they instead abstained. Its an election ploy and not a very convincing one, at that. If you want better vote for a new party and take a risk. Failing that, you might as well stay home.

  4. …………….So, if you’re thinking about not holding talks with other minor parties, preferably in a discussion setting, I’d encourage you to give it some more thought.

  5. They appear to have some good solid foundations. A bit different to the sordid policies of the main parties. I would choose them ahead of the Beans, sorry Greens or the great pretenders TPM. Why not give them a whirl? We need more white people in the parliament of high caliber ancestry descent not of generations. Which has morphed into something resembling a menagerie and feeding time at the zoo. Overpaid crisis actors who have delivered NZ to the gates of destitution and despair with no light at the end of the tunnel.

  6. Abstaining is NOT Rejecting.

It just means that if the majority of members accept it, then it will become obligatory for all members that didn’t reject it.

It’s just another Winston gaslighting con to get votes.

If you decide to vote, don’t vote for the zionist war loving NZ First.

    Sorry girls.

  7. This is the problem with women, she compares Labor under the the iron fist of Adern with National under the limp wrist of ‘the gimp’.
She wont declare her political position or preferred party.
She claims she is pro freedom but wont point out who she thinks is a threat to that.
Women either have no backbone for this or they are utter tyrants.

    • Good question: what makes individuals desire to go into politics?
And then, how do they go about it.
I sense that the girls do not have a deeper comprehension, how politics, policies and party ententes are deeply ensnared by the international finance mafia. I suggest to consult NZ Loyal and their finance policy: https://nzloyal.com/tax/

  8. “You don’t even have to like them”? You are right, I don’t and I won’t hold my nose and tick a box for the least dishonest, as an honest politician is as unthinkable as an honest burglar. The corrupt system won’t even provide a “none of the above” tick box option which would be counted as a “valid no confidence vote” in the church parliamentary system as a whole. That might cause a “constitutional crisis”.

  9. Politicians remain lying prostitutes. Maximum prostitution occurs in election campaigns. Winston Peters is the chief prostitute who thinks he is the only prostitute capable of keeping the other prostitutes honest. That’s why he now accuses others of being globalists to hide his own globalist allegiances. He will change his rhetoric after the election.

I’ll instead party-vote for the freedom party. If that ends up being a wasted vote, then so be it. But it’s more than possible for freedom to cross that 5% threshhold and enter parliament. What then? Winston will then be busy prostituting himself to freedom.

  10. First thing required the day after election result is to bring in machinery to wellington to pummel and disintegrate the stinking wasp-nest into a pile of rubble. Multiple cages and a gallows will then be erected on the outside steps whereupon the long list of all lying fraudulent criminal arsehole politicians who were complicit in turning NZ’s once world-envied economy, life-style and independence into a broke inept mis-managed incompetently-run clusterf*ck of slimy corporate greed and criminal elitism and globalist agendas -will be read out and all these scumbag criminal snakes shall be shackled and frog-marched into the courtyard and each sentenced to their looong-overdue day of reckoning. ONLY THEN can a restart and change begin…

  11. This is why I haven’t listened to RCR or bothered with voices for freedom for over 3 years.

Winston abstained. He didn’t vote against. The WHO is totally corrupt and invasive, trying to wrest health control over the world’s peoples. They still hold to the zoonotic spillover of covid. Yet, some of the people they employed to investigate and come to this decision, were in cahoots with Fauci to hide their own involvement in gain of function research of bat coronavirus at Wuhan Institute of Virology.
And the WHO, still are proponents of the mRNA jabs after all the damage caused.

Our whole health system should cease engagement and co-operation with that organisation.

Winston is an airbag. And just because we have abstained, doesn’t mean we won’t roll out the same rules, and be given some reason why we must.

He had 3 years. Half of that as deputy and has said nothing of the harms from those mRNA poison jabs.

NZ first will just join a coalition with National and Act, same as this term. And, what has that acheived in terms of righting the wrongs of the covid years. SFA

    • These cunts can hide from the truth but the truth will seek them out, expect nothing more, its just a matter of time.
But in the mean time, vote for some cunt.

  12. Again we come to another election cycle, we we get to vote for the most convincing liar.
Least we forget what labour/green/tpm did to us.
Better starts now? Better than what? Labours last abismal effort? Very low bar to clear.
And, again green top, have come up with their version of communism. Which they say will be different this time?
National deluding themselves, thinking they can win themselves? Still trying to relive thoses glory days.
NZ first hoping Taine, will succeed Winny.
Act, finally wants to play with the big kids, without being beaten up.

  13. The ONLY political party to call out the WEF, WHO and the NZ Covid ‘mandates’ is the NEW ZEALAND LOYAL PARTY, WHICH GETS NO PROPER POLITICAL COVERAGE IN THE GLOBALIST / WEF / WHO / ZIONIST-OWNED MEDIA AND GOVERNMENTS!!!
These parasites that are currently in government have had 3+ years to hear the truth about the global depopulation via wars, Covid bio-weapon vaccines, and directed energy weapons, and they did FUCK-ALL AND NOTHING to bring those to so-called ‘Just-Us (Just-Them) in the Masonic J3wdicial System, despite the overwhelming evidence presented in the so-called ‘Royal Tribunals’ which was deliberately ignored and dismissed!
We know there are Zionists quietly planted in RCR…and there have been excuses made of those who ‘have a past’…and are still at RCR, and other alternative organisations that portend to be trying to bring out the truth of the Covid genocide, but so far have only entertained ideas, or insulted the voting public’s intelligence with their campaign behaviours which frankly, are embarrassing to watch on the …’World Stage’..!
Same thing with ACT, *Opportunity (the *KPMG Party…) and the Taxpayer Union..!
Europe is now burning, the U.S. & Canada are not far behind, and another Falklands War is in the making
Will this also happen in New Zealand?
You can bet your asses it will when those who can no longer find work, have exhausted their savings, and cannot access Kiwi-Saver or have restrictions imposed on how much cash they can take from their accounts!
Picture how this will get triggered; no petrol, diesel or jet fuel, empty supermarket shelves, and no pharmaceuticals!
Only the New Zealand Loyal Party has a plan, and policies which would address these deflections, deceptions and broadcasted LIES!
Here they are- I have listed them here so that your lazy non-voting or ‘voting for comfort’ asses won’t have to!
After all, I can’t afford to allow you to miss your precious ball games or trying out your new X-Box console…!

It is for readers interested in social science, education, and self-help strategies to combat bullying.

Through real-life examples and incisive analysis, Bullyocracy challenges readers to confront the entrenched systems that foster emotional and physical torment. Discover the unspoken traditions that normalize bullying and learn how to break free from these destructive patterns. This is a call to action for a more equitable and compassionate world.

The talking heads of indoctrinated brainwashed media personalities have NO effect on me; We’re voting for NZ Loyal via early voting next Monday.26 October ’26 so that no one can steal my vote fraudulently!

  14. I agree. Abstaining is not an option.
But in similar way it is not an option to not vote.
‘Strategic’ voting for what is a-moral, unethical and corrupt is pandering to a system that severely lacks morals, principles and statemanship.
Somebody mentiond minor party votes as ‘lost’.
Since when were you first voting?
Serious question: Weren’t YOUR former votes lost?

  15. Yeah VFF I don’t agree with you. This is pretty much the same message we are getting from the likes of Key’s and Clarke. Okay its not perfect but still vote for us. Why?

I’m not voting for something my basic principles tell me is wrong. The globalists operate against our sovereign interests, I’m not casting a vote for that nor would any other principled person.

The new parties are worth consideration if they can get their act together but so far that’s a bit uncertain too. No signs of door knocking (a fundamental approach to getting votes), pamphlets or roadside signage (I appreciate the latter is very expensive so I’m not being too judgemental there). No effort means no outcome.

As it stands I’ll cast a vote for reformers but I really think a LOT more hard work is needed to get peoples attention.

  16. Don’t forget that it was Winston Peters who gave us Jacinda Ardern (and as a consequence, the Covid scam) when he chose Labour over National in the 2017 election. Could it be that he knew Ardern was pregnant, so he would be deputy PM when she gave birth, or am I being cynical?
