Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has said he will meet with US President Donald Trump in the near future, amid reports the talks could take place this weekend in Florida.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Zelensky said contacts between Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov and US officials had paved the way for a high-level meeting, adding that key decisions could be made before the new year.
US media has reported, citing a Ukrainian official, that the meeting may be held on Sunday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
The announcement comes as diplomatic activity around the Ukraine war intensifies, with Moscow confirming it has reviewed information shared by Russian and US negotiators following recent talks.
Zelensky has also recently outlined a new peace proposal discussed with Washington, while Russia has said any meaningful negotiations must remain confidential.
