Ardie Savea to lead new-look All Blacks in 2026

Ardie Savea has been appointed All Blacks captain for 2026, leading a 34-player squad selected by new head coach Dave Rennie for the Nations Championship Southern Series.

The squad includes four uncapped players rewarded for strong Super Rugby campaigns and will begin its season against France in Christchurch on 4 July before Tests against Italy in Wellington and Ireland in Auckland.

Rennie said the group was chosen for its ability to meet the demands of Test rugby while playing with aggression and ambition, while praising Savea’s leadership qualities and standing within the team.

Savea described the captaincy as one of sport’s greatest honours and said his focus would be on uniting and empowering the squad as they prepare for a challenging international campaign. The team assembles in Auckland this week ahead of the opening Test against France.
