NZ Warriors co-captain Mitch Barnett will miss the rest of the 2025 NRL season after scans confirmed a ruptured ACL knee ligament suffered during the team’s 30-36 win over South Sydney.
The 31-year-old forward, who has been pivotal to the Warriors’ resurgence under coach Andrew Webster, also misses the rest of the State of Origin series following a standout performance for NSW in Game 1.
Barnett, who joined the club in 2023 and helped lead them into the top three this season, will consult specialists for surgery while the team adjusts, likely promoting young talent as they did during James Fisher-Harris’ earlier injury absence.
