Controversial penalty ends Arsenal’s Champions League unbeaten run

Arsenal’s undefeated streak in this season’s Champions League was halted by a disputed first-half penalty, resulting in a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan at San Siro.

The game’s turning point came just before halftime when Mikel Merino was penalized for an inadvertent handball, and Hakan Calhanoglu converted the resulting spot-kick after a VAR check upheld the decision.

Despite Arsenal’s relentless second-half pressure—including close attempts by Gabriel, Kai Havertz, and impressive saves by Inter’s Yann Sommer—the Gunners couldn’t find an equalizer. The defeat drops Mikel Arteta’s side to 12th in the 36-team league.
