England weigh appeal over Quansah red card

England’s The Football Association is considering appealing Jarell Quansah’s red card from the 3-2 World Cup win over Mexico after the defender was dismissed for a high challenge early in the second half.

The move follows Folarin Balogun’s controversial suspension reversal by FIFA after intervention from Donald Trump, a decision that has drawn criticism from across the football world and prompted other nations to explore similar appeals.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has already been dealing with limited options at right-back because of injuries, making Quansah’s availability significant ahead of Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway in Miami.
