The Faroe Islands pulled off a stunning 2–1 victory over the Czech Republic in Torshavn, keeping their slim hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup alive.
Ranked 136th in the world, the island nation moved within one point of the Czechs in Group L, with one game remaining.
Hanus Sorensen opened the scoring before Adam Karabec equalised, but Martin Agnarsson’s late winner sealed a historic third straight win for the Faroese—who have already recorded their best-ever qualifying campaign with four victories.
They must now defeat leaders Croatia next month to have any chance of a play-off spot.
