Former All Blacks winger Grant Batty has died aged 74.
Born in Greytown in 1951, Batty played 56 matches for New Zealand between 1972 and 1977, including 15 tests, scoring 45 tries.
Standing 1.65m tall, he debuted on the 1972/73 northern hemisphere tour and played his first test against Wales in Cardiff.
His final test appearance came against the British Lions in Wellington in 1977, where he scored an intercept try before announcing his retirement.
Batty’s first-class career ended at age 25 due to a serious knee injury, during which he played 102 first-class matches and scored 109 tries for Wellington and Bay of Plenty.
