Sonny Bill Williams suffered a split decision loss to Paul Gallen in their much-anticipated boxing grudge match in Sydney, with a seventh-round point deduction for persistent grabbing proving costly.
Williams started strong, but Gallen’s consistent body shots swayed the judges in his favour.
Despite the heated rivalry, the two shared a respectful post-fight handshake and agreed to meet for coffee.
Meanwhile, fellow Kiwi David Nyika secured a fifth-round TKO win over Nikolas Charalampous.
