
High jumper Hamish Kerr has won the Supreme Halberg Award at the 63rd Halberg Awards in Auckland, capping a remarkable period in which he secured world championship gold in Tokyo in 2025 to add to his Olympic and Diamond League titles, making him the most successful New Zealand high jumper in history.
Kerr also took Sportsman of the Year, while his coach James Sandilands was named Coach of the Year. Snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott claimed Sportswoman of the Year after another dominant world-title season, and the Black Ferns Sevens were named Team of the Year following continued global success.
Other major winners included Sam Ruthe (Emerging Talent), Paralympian Danielle Aitchison (Para Athlete of the Year), and sport leader Katie Sadleir, while Dame Valerie Adams and Richie McCaw were inducted into the New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame.
