Four-time champion John Higgins produced a remarkable turnaround to defeat Ronnie O’Sullivan 13-12 at the World Championship, rallying from 8-3 and 9-4 deficits in a dramatic last-frame decider.
O’Sullivan, chasing a record eighth modern-era title, had twice held commanding five-frame leads but lost momentum as Higgins surged with six consecutive frames across sessions.
The match swung again late, with O’Sullivan briefly regaining the lead before Higgins edged ahead 12-11, only for an 81 break to force a final frame.
After both players faltered early in the decider, Higgins capitalised with a decisive 49 break to seal victory in a contest widely hailed as one of the finest in Crucible history.
