Hurricanes crush Chiefs 60-5 to claim Super Rugby title

The Hurricanes ended a 10-year championship drought in emphatic fashion, producing a record-breaking 60-5 victory over the Chiefs in the Super Rugby Grand Final in Wellington.

The result was the largest winning margin in a Super Rugby decider, surpassing the previous record set in 2009. The Hurricanes dominated from start to finish, leading 29-0 at halftime before running in nine tries, with flyhalf Ruben Love scoring 25 points. Wingers Fehi Fineanganofo and Josh Moorby both set a new Super Rugby single-season try-scoring record with 17 tries.

The Chiefs avoided becoming the first team held scoreless in a final when Naitoa Ah Kuoi scored late, but the Hurricanes sealed a historic night with a final try from Jone Rova.
