The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final saw India overpower the Black Caps by 96 runs in Ahmedabad, as India successfully defended their title with a dominant all-round performance in front of more than 100,000 fans.
Powered by explosive innings from Sanju Samson (89 off 46), Abhishek Sharma (52 off 21) and Ishan Kishan (54 off 25), India piled up 255-5 before late wickets from Jimmy Neesham slowed the total slightly.
In reply the Black Caps never recovered after early losses despite a rapid 52 from Tim Seifert, with Jasprit Bumrah tearing through the lower order with 4-15 to bowl the Black Caps out for 159 in 19 overs.
The result gives India a third straight major white-ball title, while New Zealand’s wait for a global tournament breakthrough continues after another final defeat.
