Isak’s early goal hands Newcastle victory as Arsenal’s title hopes stumble

Alexander Isak’s 12th-minute header proved decisive as Newcastle defeated Arsenal 1-0 at St James’ Park, leaving the Gunners struggling to keep pace in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal started brightly but faltered after Isak capitalized on a defensive lapse to score from Anthony Gordon’s cross. Despite dominating possession in the second half, Arsenal managed only one shot on target as Newcastle’s defense held firm.

Injuries and the absence of Martin Odegaard hindered Arsenal’s creativity, with Declan Rice missing their best chance late in the game. This defeat, their second in three matches, leaves Arsenal eight points behind league leaders Manchester City, should City win their match against Bournemouth.
