Knights pull off 16-point comeback to beat Manly in Golden Point thriller

The Newcastle Knights overcame a 16-0 halftime deficit to defeat the Manly Sea Eagles 26-22 in a golden point win, marking their biggest comeback since 2007.

After being booed off at halftime at McDonald Jones Stadium, rookie Fletcher Hunt inspired the turnaround, scoring his first NRL try and setting up the match-winner for Kalyn Ponga.

Injuries to Lehi Hopoate and Tyson Frizell early on affected both sides, while Manly’s Daly Cherry-Evans faded after a strong start amid speculation over his State of Origin future. Knights coach Adam O’Brien criticised the fans’ halftime boos, praising his young squad’s effort and resilience.
