Liam Lawson produced another composed drive at the Hungarian Grand Prix, climbing from 11th on the grid to finish eighth after Racing Bulls’ two-stop strategy paid dividends.
Fresh tyres in the closing laps allowed the New Zealander to overtake teammate Arvid Lindblad and secure four valuable championship points, lifting him above Pierre Gasly into ninth in the drivers’ standings with 43 points.
Lawson’s result also helped Racing Bulls move into fifth in the constructors’ championship.
Up front, Lando Norris claimed McLaren’s first win of the season after Oscar Piastri retired with a mechanical problem, while Max Verstappen finished second and Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli extended his championship lead with third place.
