Lewis Hamilton expressed heartbreak after accidentally running over a groundhog during the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, calling the incident “devastating” and “horrible.”
The Ferrari driver hit the animal on lap 13, damaging his SF-25’s floor and losing significant pace, ultimately finishing sixth.
Despite the impact on his race, the seven-time world champion—known for his veganism and advocacy for animals—said he was more upset about the groundhog’s death, hoping it didn’t suffer. Groundhogs are common on the island-based circuit.
Mercedes’ George Russell won the race, with Max Verstappen finishing second.
Being a tool in one of the most wasteful sports in regard to energy, land, habitat and pollution, this dud Hamilton is also one of the biggest hypocrites.
Get back on your bike and pedal harder.
