Manly player Keith Titmuss died of heat stroke – inquiry

Keith Titmuss news

An inquiry has revealed that Keith Titmuss, a Manly Sea Eagles player, died from exertional heat stroke after collapsing post-training in 2020.

His body temperature was recorded at 41.9°C by paramedics at the Narrabeen base on November 23, 2020.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, the 20-year-old suffered a fatal cardiac arrest.

The inquest heard that Titmuss, less fit than his teammates and having gained weight, struggled during the session, which included indoor training without air conditioning.

Despite a 24.9°C maximum air temperature, experts criticised the session’s intensity, particularly for the pre-season period.

Titmuss, remembered fondly by his family, had recently been promoted within the club before his untimely death. The inquiry is ongoing.
