Australian captain Mitchell Marsh struck a commanding 85 to lead his side to a six-wicket victory over the Black Caps in Bay Oval, chasing down a target of 185 with ease.
Earlier, Tim Robinson’s unbeaten 106 off 66 balls, alongside a strong partnership with Daryl Mitchell, rescued New Zealand from a disastrous start of three wickets lost in the opening overs.
Despite Robinson’s efforts, the Black Caps’ pace attack faltered, leaking runs at over ten an over as Marsh’s innings dismantled the chase before he fell to Matt Henry in the 15th over. The two sides will clash again at the same venue on Friday evening.
