New Zealand Warriors halfback Luke Metcalf has been voted the NRL Player of the Month for May by fellow players in a poll run by the Rugby League Players’ Association (RLPA), edging out Roosters star James Tedesco and South Sydney’s Keaon Koloamatangi.
The 26-year-old halfback impressed with standout performances in five matches, including wins over the Cowboys, Dragons, Dolphins, and Rabbitohs (the latter counted as part of May despite being played on June 1).
Metcalf scored four tries, delivered three try assists, kicked a match-winning field goal, made five line breaks and 14 tackle breaks, forced three goal-line dropouts, averaged 87 running metres per game, and racked up 51 points, making him the club’s top try scorer with eight for the season so far.
