Geane Herrera, a former UFC fighter known as ‘La Pulga,’ tragically passed away following a motorcycle accident in Tampa, Florida.
Herrera, who began his mixed martial arts (MMA) career in 2011, competed in 13 professional fights over seven years, including four in the UFC.
Herrera’s family confirmed his death and expressed their sorrow on a GoFundMe page, stating, “Geane will always be in our hearts.” They added, “Geane leaves behind a 16-year-old son, his girlfriend who is three months pregnant, his parents, siblings, and a family that loves him and will deeply miss him.”
Making his UFC debut in 2015 against Ray Borg, Herrera lost by unanimous decision but secured a victory over Joby Sanchez in his following fight. Ray Borg, reflecting on Herrera’s life and career, shared his condolences on Instagram, noting, “He was a good guy, my prayers are with him and his family during this tough time.”
After his tenure in the UFC, Herrera transitioned to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) in 2021, where he won his only match by technical knockout.
