Crusaders edge Hurricanes 24-31 to top Super Rugby table

The Crusaders defeated the Hurricanes 24-31 in a tense clash at Sky Stadium in Wellington, moving temporarily to the top of the Super Rugby Pacific standings.

Led by hooker Ioane Moananu’s two tries and a strong first-half showing from Scott Barrett, the Crusaders looked in control until two late yellow cards opened the door for the Hurricanes.

Despite late tries from Peter Lakai and Peter Umaga-Jensen, and a last-minute attack, the Hurricanes fell short.

The Crusaders’ defence held firm under pressure, sealing their second consecutive win ahead of next week’s showdown with the Blues, while the Hurricanes now face mounting pressure as they head to Perth.
