Morocco hold Brazil to share points

Morocco underlined their World Cup credentials with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Brazil in New York/New Jersey, taking a deserved first-half lead through Ismael Saibari after exposing defensive lapses from the five-time champions.

Brazil responded through a stunning Vinicius Jr strike, but struggled for long periods against Morocco’s pace, organisation and attacking movement.

The African side controlled much of the opening half and created the better opportunities, while Brazil improved after the break but failed to find a winner despite late pressure. The result leaves Group C wide open, with both nations remaining strong contenders to top the pool.
