Netball New Zealand’s tense standoff with Silver Ferns coach Dame Noeline Taurua has intensified after two days of failed mediation left her sidelined for the rest of the year.
Chief executive Jennie Wyllie has appealed for civility amid fierce social-media backlash, urging fans to “step back from their keyboards” as speculation grows over Taurua’s suspension.
The dispute stems from a review alleging a “psychologically unsafe” team environment, which Taurua and her staff have legally challenged, claiming flaws in the process.
While interim coach Yvette McCausland-Durie and assistant Liana Leota lead the team into the Constellation Cup, Wyllie insists NNZ is still working “in good faith” toward a resolution, but the coach’s future remains uncertain.
