New Zealand boxer David Nyika will return to the ring next month in Sydney to face veteran Kiwi fighter Nik Charalampous, marking his first bout since being knocked out by Jai Opetaia in January’s IBF world cruiserweight title clash.
The fight, part of the Sonny Bill Williams-Paul Gallen undercard on July 16, offers Nyika a chance to rebound after his first professional defeat.
The Olympic bronze medallist says his journey to a world title starts anew, while Charalampous, who once went 10 rounds with Opetaia, has dismissed Nyika as an “overrated pretty boy” and vowed to go hard.
