The Repco Supercars Championship will race in Christchurch from 2026, marking the series’ first-ever South Island event at Ruapuna Raceway as part of a landmark New Zealand double-header alongside Taupō.

This historic move secures Supercars events in both islands through 2028, underpinned by government and community support. Ruapuna will undergo a multimillion-dollar upgrade, transforming the club-run venue into a world-class circuit and promising major economic benefits for Christchurch.

Motorsport leaders and local officials hailed the announcement as a milestone for Kiwi motorsport, spotlighting New Zealand’s growing stature on the global racing stage.
