NZ Warriors star Jazz Tevaga pledges to help mate’s cancer fight

Tevaga’s former Junior Warriors teammate Roman Tuhimata has been diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumors (DSRCT).

DSRCT is a rare and aggressive form of cancer, which will see Tuhimata undergo chemotherapy for the next eight months.

Tevaga has pledged to donate $10 for every tackle he makes, $1 for every metre he gains, and $500 for every try he scores towards a fund set up for Tuhimata, as the 27 year old cannot work while having the chemotherapy.

‘Learning about Roman’s test results, it was honestly one of the toughest days,’ Tevaga told NRL.com.

‘We all ended up meeting up as soon as we found out and there were a lot of tears shed for our bro.’

A ‘Relief for Roman’ Givealittle page has been set up to ‘ease the financial pressures of everyday life, gifting the freedom to enjoy each day to the fullest while fighting for a future.’
