England midfielder Phil Foden will return to Germany on Thursday after briefly leaving the England camp for the birth of his third child.
The FA announced his departure on Wednesday, citing a “pressing family matter.”
24-year-old Foden has been a key player for England, starting all three group games at Euro 2024, including the recent draw with Slovenia.
England topped Group C and are set to face Slovakia in the last 16 on Sunday in Gelsenkirchen.
Foden is expected to resume training with the team on Friday.
Foden and his partner, Rebecca Cooke, shared the news of their third child’s expected arrival on Instagram in April. The couple also have a son, Ronnie, five, and a daughter, True, two.
