Ardie Savea and Braxton Sorensen McGee shine at NZ Rugby Awards 2025

Ardie Savea capped a milestone season by claiming both the Kelvin R Tremain Memorial Player of the Year and All Blacks Player of the Year awards, alongside being named Super Rugby Pacific Player of the Year after a standout campaign with Moana Pasifika.

NZR chief executive Mark Robinson praised Savea’s unmatched consistency and inspirational leadership. Rising star Braxton Sorensen-McGee continued her remarkable debut year, adding Black Ferns Player of the Year and New Zealand Age Grade Player of the Year to her global Breakthrough Player honour.

Portia Woodman-Wickliffe collected both Super Rugby Aupiki Player of the Year and the Tom French Memorial Māori Player of the Year, recognising her performance and cultural leadership.



The Black Ferns Sevens dominated the team categories, winning Team of the Year and securing Cory Sweeney his sixth Coach of the Year title. Rob Penney and Willie Walker were named men’s and women’s Coaches of the Year, while Maggie Cogger-Orr earned Referee of the Year for the first time.
