After ten years of verbal sparring and failed negotiations, dual-code sports star Sonny Bill Williams and former league international Paul Gallen will finally face off in the boxing ring on July 16 in Sydney.
The long-anticipated bout will consist of eight two-minute rounds, with both fighters set to earn $1 million.
The animosity remains fierce, with Williams vowing to “smash” Gallen and accusing him of arrogance, while Gallen skipped the press conference, accusing Williams of manipulating the timeline to suit his schedule.
The match marks Williams’ return to boxing following a 2022 loss to Mark Hunt, while Gallen hasn’t fought since defeating Justin Hodges that same year. The undercard will also feature New Zealand’s David Nyika, making his comeback after a knockout defeat to Jai Opetaia.
