The Gold Coast Titans pulled off one of the upsets of the NRL season, defeating Brisbane 28-23 at Suncorp Stadium after fullback Keano Kini produced a breathtaking late solo try to sink the Broncos.
Trailing early and carrying a five-match losing streak into the clash, the Titans stormed back from a 12-0 deficit with a four-try surge led by Jayden Campbell, who crossed twice in a dominant display.
Brisbane appeared set to escape with victory when Adam Reynolds slotted a field goal to edge his side ahead 23-22, but Kini delivered a stunning chip-and-chase effort from 65 metres out, regathering the ball after contact with Reece Walsh before racing away to score the match-winner.
The result ended Gold Coast’s 55-day winless run while extending Brisbane’s losing streak to five games, leaving the defending premiers with a disappointing 5-8 record and their title hopes hanging by a thread.
