Aston Villa responded emphatically to their recent defeat by seeing off Nottingham Forest 3–1 at Villa Park, with Ollie Watkins continuing his resurgence and John McGinn scoring twice.
Watkins struck for the fourth time in three matches just before half-time, setting the tone for a dominant display that delivered Villa an 11th consecutive home league win, their best run in more than three decades.
McGinn doubled the lead shortly after the restart before Morgan Gibbs-White briefly gave Forest hope, only for a goalkeeping error to allow McGinn to seal the result from long range.
The victory lifted Villa up to second in the Premier League, while Forest slipped to a fourth straight league defeat as their struggles deepened.
