Wardley stuns Parker with late knockout

Joseph Parker’s bid for a heavyweight title shot ended in heartbreak after being stopped by England’s Fabio Wardley in the 11th round at London’s O2 Arena.

Despite leading on the scorecards and trading heavy blows throughout an intense contest, Parker was caught by a devastating right hook that left him defenceless on the ropes before the referee stepped in.

The TKO loss halts Parker’s resurgence and dashes his hopes of an undisputed title fight, while Wardley celebrated the biggest win of his career and immediately called out champion Oleksandr Usyk.
