Warriors edge Dragons in gritty 14-15 win

The Warriors have defied a bizarre NRL trend of blown leads this weekend by holding off the Dragons for a hard-fought 14-15 win at WIN Stadium.

After racing to a strong start and going up 0-14, the Warriors looked vulnerable when St George Illawarra clawed back to level the match midway through the second half. But halfback Luke Metcalf coolly slotted a decisive field goal in the 70th minute, while Dragons veteran Val Holmes missed a golden chance to equalise five minutes later.

Despite a late surge from the hosts, the Warriors held on to notch their seventh win in eight games and tighten their grip on second place.
