The NZ Warriors have taken another tough hit, as star centre Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is reportedly out indefinitely due to a hamstring injury.
According to Australia’s Daily Telegraph Tuivasa-Sheck sustained the strain during a training session yesterday.
Though considered a less severe strain, it will prevent the former Dally M medallist from playing against the Sydney Roosters this Sunday. Adam Pompey is expected to step in from the bench as a replacement.
The Warriors, currently winless in their last four games and positioned 14th on the table, stayed in Sydney following their recent defeat to the Newcastle Knights to prepare for their upcoming clash with the Roosters. However, Tuivasa-Sheck’s absence will be felt in a backline that has struggled to perform lately.
Following the Roosters, the Warriors face a challenging lineup against reigning champions Penrith Panthers and the high-performing Dolphins. Tuivasa-Sheck joins a growing list of injured teammates, including Luke Metcalf, Marata Niukore, Chanel Harris-Tavita, and Kurt Capewell.
30-year-old Tuivasa-Sheck has a history of hamstring injuries, with a similar strain sidelining him at the end of the 2020 season. He isn’t the only high-profile player dealing with such an issue this week; Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary also left the field due to a hamstring injury in Thursday’s win over the Bulldogs.
Cleary, who has missed multiple games this season, is undergoing further scans to determine the severity and recovery period required.
Roosters by70 Warriors are not up to it.
